I made a series of cartoons for the book ‘Het Kosmisch Rariteitenkabinet’ (can be translated as ‘The Cosmic Cabinet of Curiosities’). I learned a lot about all kinds of strange objects in space with funny names and about weird and unbelievable theories. It is hard to understand my cartoons without the context of the book… I chose these two. The one above it about a guy who has a found a certain arrangements of stars and star systems that he calls the ‘Great Wall’ – but it is still unclear if it exists at all (translation: ‘I discovered something that may not exist’). The one below is about DGSAT I, a dark area or object in space that puzzles all cosmologists. (translation: man: ‘Modern art… I don’t understand it’. Woman: ‘This is not art, but a photo of DGSAT I. We don’t understand it either.’).
