A Van Zanten comic for the economist magazine ESB, this time about ‘costs of raw materials’. My translation: 1) Environmental damage caused by extraction and production of raw materials, is invisible in product prices. I took a look at my clothes. 2) Acryl or fleece: fossil sources, plastic fibres in enviroment; Cotton: high water usage, lots of pesticides and chemicals are used; Wool: lots of farmland used, use of chemicals during processing; Polyester: fossil sources, use of chemicals, plastic fibres in environment; Leather: use of chemicals during processing. 3) Fortunately, the underwear I wear is organic, from a renewable source – my own garden.
Een Van Zanten-strip voor het economische maandblad ESB, deze keer over de (soms onzichtbare) kosten van grondstoffen.
