Afgelopen zaterdag tekenden Joshua Peeters en ik tijdens de Amersfoort Rally 2026 van Rotaryclub Amersfoort-Regio. De club steunt jaarlijks een goed doel met deze rally, en dit keer was de Stichting Tekenen voor Kinderen dat, de stichting waarvoor Joshua en ik elke week tekeningen maken voor de kinderen in het Prinses Máxima Centrum. Het idee was dat Joshua en ik portretten van de deelnemers aan de rally zouden tekenen, maar nadat ik een eerste auto van één van de deelnemers op papier had gezet, veranderde het plan en stond ik op de parkeerplaats auto’s te tekenen. Wat dat betreft is er weinig verschil tussen het tekenen voor de jonge kinderen in het ziekenhuis en de jonge ouderen die meedoen aan de rally. Maar goed, alles voor het goede doel en Mirjam, onze fundraiser, en enkele autoliefhebbers hielden me gezelschap (Mirjam maakte deze foto’s).
Last Saturday, Joshua Peeters and I made drawings during the Amersfoort Rally 2026, organized by Rotary Club Amersfoort-Regio. The club supports a charity through this rally every year; this time, the beneficiary was Stichting Tekenen voor Kinderen (Drawing for Children Foundation) – the organization for which Joshua and I make drawings for children at the Princess Máxima Center every week. The original plan was for Joshua and me to draw portraits of the rally participants, but after I sketched a first participant’s car, the plan shifted, and I ended up spending the time drawing cars in the parking lot. In that sense, there is little difference between drawing for the young children in the hospital and the “young-at-heart” adults participating in the rally. Still, it was all for a good cause, and Mirjam, our fundraiser, and some car lovers kept me company (Mirjam took these photos).
Hierboven zie je me nog als portrettist aan het werk om deze twee broers te tekenen. Ze wilden graag samen op de tekening. Op de foto hieronder zie je dat ze blij waren met de tekening.

De tekening waar mijn verblijf op de parkeer plaats mee begon. Het was een leuke middag en de opbrengst voor onze stichting was groot – nog niet alle sommetjes waren aan het eind van de middag gemaakt, maar het eindbedrag zal zo rond de 5000 euro bedragen. Bedankt Rotaryclub Amersfoort-Regio!

This is the drawing that started off my time in the parking lot. It was a fun afternoon, and the proceeds for our foundation were substantial – while the final tally wasn’t complete by the end of the day, the total amount is expected to be around 5,000 euros.
