We waren op vakantie in Engeland en Schotland. Vandaag laat ik wat tekeningen zien die ik maakte in Engeland. We verbleven in Cullercoats, een kustplaatsje vlak boven Newcastle. Hierboven zie je de achterkant van de Delaval Arms in Whitley Bay, waar mijn vrouw en ik een fijne lunch hadden tijdens een wandeling langs de kust.
We passed our vacation in England en Scotland. Today, I will show some drawings I made in England. We stayed in Cullercoats, a coastal town just north of Newcastle. Above, you see the backside of the Delaval Arms in Whitley Bay, where my wife and I had a good lunch during a walk along the coast.
Cullercoats ligt aan de Noordzee, aan een strand met kliffen. Vanuit ons appartement keken we op de zee en de bedrijvigheid op het strand uit. Ik tekende ’s ochtends de voorbijgangers onder ons raam.
Cullercoats is located on the North Sea, on a beach with cliffs. From our apartment, we looked out over the sea and the bustle of people on the beach. On a morning, I sketched the passers-by under our window.
De Tyne Bridge, één van de vele bruggen over de Tyne die Newcastle doorsnijden. De bruggen lopen vaak vlak langs de huizen.

Cullercoats heeft een aantal min of meer pittoreske café’s aan de zeeweg liggen, maar ik vond de niet minder schilderachtige achterkant leuker om te tekenen.

Cullercoats has a few more or less picturesque cafés along the coastal road, but I preferred to draw the backside of them, that is not less scenic.
