Het afgelopen weekend was ik in Ees in Drenthe met mijn schoonfamilie. Het was prachtig lenteweer, dus ik trok er ook op uit om te gaan tekenen op de hei en in het bos. Tijdens een wandeling zaterdag kwamen we langs een mooi berkenbos. De volgende dag ben ik er teruggegaan om bovenstaande tekening te maken – met beperkte middelen: gekleurd papier, zwarte inkt en witte en blauwe verf.
Last weekend I was in Ees in Drenthe with my in-laws. The spring weather was beautiful, so I also went out to draw on the heath and in the forest. During a walk on Saturday we passed a beautiful birch forest. The next day I went back there to make the drawing above – with limited resources: coloured paper, black ink and white and blue paint.

En weer terug in het bos. Een bos tekenen is lastig: je moet vereenvoudigen, je kunt simpelweg niet alles tekenen. Voor mij werkt de combinatie van gekleurd papier en gouache (ik heb maar een paar kleuren bij me) dan heel goed.

And back in the forest again. Drawing a forest is hard: you have to simplify, you just can’t draw everything. For me, the combination of coloured paper and gouache (I only have a few colours with me) works very well.
