Voor het economische tijdschrift ESB maakte ik deze tekening bij het thema ‘Overstromingen’. Er werd in het blad natuurlijk vooral gekeken naar de economische en financiële schade van overstromingen, en hoe die te verzekeren. Goed nieuws (als ik het tenminste goed heb onthouden, want ik maakte de tekening alwerr een tijde geleden): door waterwerken als dijkverzwaringen en overloopgebieden zal het risico op overstromingen in ons land de komende jaren afnemen.
I made this drawing for the economics journal ESB on the theme of ‘flooding’. Naturally, the magazine focused primarily on the economic and financial damage caused by floods and how to insure against it. There is good news, however (if I recall correctly, as I made the drawing quite some time ago): thanks to water management projects such as dike reinforcements and overflow areas, the risk of flooding in the Netherlands will decrease in the coming years.
