Last Saturday was the day of Worldwide SketchCrawl #50. I joined the sketching group in Limburg who went sketching at the Rolduc Cloister complex in Kerkrade. I arrived early and made this sketch of the Rolduc profile. Below you see a sketch of a street in Kerkrade.
At one o’clock in the afternoon, the group assembled and went sketching in the cloister library. This splendid rococo room can only be visited during guided tours, but we were allowed to sketch it. A challenging room with dazzling decoration.
After the library, we went to the coister church crypt. A dark and gloomy room. Colums, vaulted ceiling, confusing lighting: a hard task for a sketcher!
We closed our session in the cloister café, where the picture below was taken. It was a perfect sketching day (more sketches I made can de seen here)! Thanks to the Limburg sketching group for the organisation!
